This is a super quick snack if you have some basic ingredients at home.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup very thin Aval (Poha)
  • 1 boiled and mashed potato
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tea spoon chilli powder
  • 1/2 tea spoon asafeotida
  • 1 tea spoon rice flour
  • salt to taste
  • water to make it a dough
  • Oil to fry
Method:
  • In a bowl mix the aval (poha), boiled and mashed potato,onion, chilli powder,salt, asafeotida and rice flour.
  • Add water little by little and make it a thick dough.
  • make into desired shapes and fry in oil till golden brown.
  • Serve hot with tomato sauce or chutney.

Ingredients

1/2 cup Channa Dal
3-4 Red Chillies
1 table spoon Coconut (optional)
1/2 tea spoon tamarind paste
1 tea spoon oil
pinch of asafeotida
salt to taste

Method:
In a pan add oil, channa dal and red chillies and fry for a minute.
Add coconut, salt, tamarind and asafeotida
Stir them well and turn off the stove. (Let them cool for a while)
Grind into a smooth paste and serve with hot rice and ghee.

Ingredients

1 bunch of Cilantro (Kothamalli)
1 table spoon Channa Dhal
1 table spoon Urad dhal
2-3 Red chillies
1 tea spoon tamarind paste
pinch of asafeotida
salt to taste
1 tea spoon oil

  • In a pan add a oil, urad dhal and channa dhal
  • Fry for a minute till the raw smell goes
  • Add the cilantro leaves and saute for a minute
  • Add salt, tamarind and asafeotida and mix them well. Turn off the stove.
  • Grind into a smooth paste and serve hot with rice and ghee.

Note: You can also use Curry leaves or Pudina instead of Cilantro leaves.
