Today's dish for the 7 day Blogging marathon is Nombu Adai (sweet and salt).
Sweet Nombu Adai
1 cup Rice flour
1 1/2 cup water
1 cup jaggery
1 tea spoon Elaichi powder
Method
In a pan dry roast rice flour until slight reddish color and keep the flour aside.
Then add the water and jaggery. Boil until the Jaggery dissolves.
Add the cardomon powder and mix well.
Slow down the gas and add the rice flour slowly without forming any lumps.
Mix until forming a thick dough and switch of the stove.
Make rounds with your palm and make a small hole in the middle.
Grease the idli plates and steam for 5-10 minutes.
serve hot with unsalted butter.
Salted Nombu Adai
1 cup Rice flour
1 1/2 cup water
1 tea spoon Mustard seeds
1 tea spoon urad dhal
1 tea spoon Channa dhal
2 Green chillies
couple of curry leaves
1 teas spoon oil
salt to taste
In a pan dry roast the Rice flour until a nice aroma comes out and raw smell goes away.
Keep aside the rice flour and add a little oil,add mustard seeds, channa dhal, urad dhal,green chillies and curry leaves and allow them to splutter.
Add water and allow it to boil and add the salt.
Slowly add the Rice flour and mix well without forming lumps and mix until forming a thick dough. Switch off the stove.
Make into a round shapes in the palm with a hole in the center.
Grease the Idli plates and steam for 5-10 minutes.
Serve hot with Butter.
